Lumezi lawmaker, Munir Zulu, talks self into trouble, arrested for hate speech

Lumezi member of parliament, Munir Zulu, has been arrested and charged by Police for the offence of expressing or showing hatred contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, said in a statement on Tuesday that Zulu aged 35 of Meanwood Ndeke area was arrested for the offence of expressing or showing hatred, ridicule or contempt for persons because of race, tribe, place of origin or color contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Mwale said this was in connection with the alleged utterances he made on March 28, 2023 at Longacres Police Post car park after his release from Police custody.

He said the suspect has been released on Police Bond pending court appearance.
