Patriotic Front (PF) vice president, Given Lubinda, has called on Zambians to defend the church from malicious and vile attacks that have allegedly emanated from leaders of the United Party for National Development (UPND) government.
Lubinda made the call during the party’s special Central Committee meeting, which convened with one item agenda to adopt the draft party Constitution on Saturday in Lusaka.
Lubinda described the UPND disparaging remarks targeted on the church as a spiritual fight that every well meaning Zambian must join, claiming the devil is using leaders in the country to propel confusion.
He said the PF secretariat and party will continue to stand with The Catholic Church as it has a covenant with God, through the Lord Jesus Christ.
” It is very easy to change the mindset of our people especially for our children. Why are people double tongued on the issue of the Lesbians, Gay Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQIA) community in Zambia. The PF stands against the LGBTQIA right campaigners articulated by former Republican President Edgar Changwa Lungu (ECL) that the west can keep its money and not bring LGBTQIA rights into Zambia,” said Lubinda.
He also warned that some Members of Parliament and some members of the Central Committee who were breaching and undermining the interests of the party, would face sanctions to protect the integrity of the party.
Lubinda explained that the PF did not choose to be in the opposition after 10 years and makes no apologies, pointing out that God The Almighty allowed the PF to be in opposition so that people can see and understand Gods mission on his people.
During the Central Committee meeting, Lubinda also informed that there were continued attacks by the UPND government on the leadership of the party, including plots to deregister the Patriotic Front.
“Please expedite the adoption of the Draft Constitution so that the calendar and road map for both the Constitutional Conference and the Extra-Ordinary General Conference was not disrupted or delayed anymore,” Lubinda urged the Central Committee.
He said general membership and the nation had expressed anxiety over the delay to host the Extra-Ordinary General Conference.
