The Zambian Association of Citizen Contractors has encouraged all local contractors to demand for opportunities from the Road Development Agency (RDA) under the Private Public Partnership (PPP) projects.
Association General-Secretary, Danny Simumba, noted the importance for the government through the RDA to put in place modalities for accessibility of opportunities in the construction sector.
Simumba expressed confidence that local contractors had potential and capacity to effectively work under the PPP project.
“All that is needed is for the RDA to ensure that the works are done in a transparent, effective and professional manner,” he said.

Simumba, therefore, urged the RDA to put in place measures to enable Zambians to begin accessing works on the PPP project.
He also urged local contractors to be professional in order for them to have access to such projects.
In 2023, government signed a PPP with Avic international for the construction of the Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway at a cost of US$577 million.
The PPP project was originally expected to cost around 2 billion dollars with amenities including the creation of townships, hotels and other highway economic infrastructure.
