Liverpool put on a dominant display at Old Trafford, securing a 3-0 victory over Manchester United and extending Arne Slot’s dream start in the league.

Liverpool’s intent was clear from the outset, with Diogo Jota’s early effort narrowly missing Andre Onana’s goal.

The Reds appeared to have silenced the Old Trafford crowd in the sixth minute when Alexander-Arnold netted at the back post, despite Diogo Dalot’s desperate clearance attempt.

However, the goal was disallowed after VAR intervention ruled Salah offside in the build-up.

Liverpool broke the deadlock in the 35th minute following Casemiro’s misplaced pass, which allowed Salah to cross for Diaz, who headed in at the far post.

The pair combined again just before halftime, with Salah’s deft pass setting up Diaz for a clinical finish.

Salah extended Liverpool’s lead in the 56th minute, calmly slotting into the bottom-right corner after capitalizing on Kobbie Mainoo’s midfield error.

Despite United’s efforts to respond, they were unable to break through, with Joshua Zirkzee missing their best chances late in the game.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace secured their first Premier League point of the season with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Eberechi Eze’s stunning 20-yard strike leveled the score after Nicolas Jackson’s first-half goal put Chelsea ahead in a lively London derby.

Jackson, scoring in consecutive matches, finished off a well-executed Chelsea move midway through the first half.

Despite their early dominance, the Blues failed to extend their lead and were punished eight minutes into the second half when Eze curled in a precise shot from distance, marking Palace’s first point of the 2024/25 campaign.

Enzo Maresca’s side missed the opportunity to climb into the top half of the table, remaining 11th with four points, while Palace moved up to 16th place.

In another dramatic encounter at St James’ Park, Alexander Isak’s late goal condemned Tottenham Hotspur to a 2-1 defeat as Newcastle United claimed victory.

The Magpies took the lead in the 37th minute when Harvey Barnes scored from close range, giving Newcastle a slim advantage at halftime.

Despite dominating large portions of the match, Spurs found their equalizer in the second half when substitute Brennan Johnson’s shot was deflected in by Dan Burn.

However, Isak struck 12 minutes from time, finishing a swift counter-attack to secure another home win for Eddie Howe’s side.

Newcastle’s victory keeps their unbeaten start to the season intact, lifting them to fourth place in the early standings, while Tottenham remains 10th, just inside the top half.
