Petauke Central lawmaker, Emmanuel Banda, has been discharged from Maina Soko Military Hospital but detained by the police for investigations.
Banda was receiving medical treatment at Maina Soko Military Hospital after he was found days after, having been declared missing earlier.
The Petauke Central lawmaker has since named key State House aides as his abductors, namely Clayson Hamasaka, the State House Communication Specialist, and Levy Ngoma, President Hakainde Hichilema’s Political Advisor.
Additionally, Banda named ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) Deputy Youth Chairperson, Trevor Mwiinde, as being part of his alleged abductors.
“The Zambia Police Service wishes to inform the public that Honourable Emmanuel Banda has been discharged from Maina Soko Medical Centre this morning,” Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed on Wednesday.

In a statement issued in Lusaka, Hamoonga did not provide reasons for Banda’s detention but confirmed that he was currently in police custody.
“Honourable Emmanuel Banda was admitted to Maina Soko Medical Centre for medical treatment,” he said.
Hamoonga stated that after receiving the necessary medical care and being deemed fit for discharge by the attending medical professionals, Banda was released from the medical centre and taken into police custody.
He assured that the Zambia Police Service was committed to ensuring a thorough and transparent investigation.
