Kitwe man kills wife, commits suicide

Neighbours in Kitwe’s Buchi township woke to a rude shock when they found two bodies of a couple in the neighborhood.

Police report indicated that a 29-year-old man had allegedly beaten to death his 27-year-old wife before taking his own life.

This followed a reported marital dispute.

Copperbelt Police Chief, Peacewell Mweemba, identified the deceased woman as Abigail Malama of house number 929, Buchi township Kitwe while the dead husband was Bright Kizito.

Mweemba further said in a statement on Thursday that this happened around 07:00 hours.

After seeing that the wife had died he decided to take his own life by taking pesticide.

They were later certified dead and deposited in Kitwe teaching hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
