A man aged between 20 and 30 in Kitwe’s Bulangililo township has commited suicide by throwing himself into the crocodile infested river Kafue.
Copperbelt police chief Peacewell Mweemba confirmed on Friday in a statement that unknown man aged between 20 and 30 committed suicide by throwing himself into the Kafue river.
Police said George Siame a security officer from the Kitwe City Council (KCC) reported that a man had commited suicde by throwing himself into the Kafue river.

He said the officer whilst on duty at the council bridge saw an unknown male person walking from Bulangililo going towards the council bridge.
“An unknown man aged between 20 and 30 has committed suicide by thrwoing himself into the crocodile infested Kafue river for unknown reasons,” Mweemba said.
He said upon reaching the middle of the bridge, he threw himself into the river and by the time people ran towards him for rescue, he had already been swept away by strong current.
Mweemba said the matter was then reported to the police who visited the scene and that a search was conducted but the body was not found.
