Kenyan digital ticketing startup BuuPass has partnered with goal-based savings platform Flexpay to offer customers flexible payment options for holiday travel.

The collaboration aims to simplify travel planning and reduce the financial burden on Kenyans during the festive season.

Sonia Kabra, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of BuuPass, unveiled the partnership at a press conference, explaining that travelers can now pay for their tickets in manageable, interest-free installments over four to 12 weeks.

“Travelers can select their travel dates, book tickets, and pay a small deposit upfront, with the remaining balance spread across weekly or monthly payments,” Kabra explained.

According to Africa NewsWatch, this approach, she added, provided an stress-free way for families and large groups to secure tickets early, avoiding last-minute price hikes as fares are locked in.

Kabra emphasized that the partnership aligns with BuuPass’s mission to make travel accessible to everyone.

“By partnering with Flexpay, we’re giving travelers the flexibility to budget for their trips in advance,” she said.

Richard Machomba, CEO and founder of Flexpay, highlighted that the platform’s mission is to provide accessible financial solutions that help individuals achieve their financial goals.

“By partnering with BuuPass, we’re making travel more accessible and stress-free, particularly during the holiday season when expenses can be overwhelming,” he added.

BuuPass, founded in 2016 by Kabra and Wyclife Omondi, is a B2B2C mobility marketplace that allows users to search, compare, and book travel tickets via web, app, or USSD.

The company also offers a SaaS platform to help bus operators manage their operations.

Flexpay, founded as an online and offline payment gateway, enables merchants to offer interest-free targeted savings to their customers across Africa.
