In response to the energy insecurity caused by drought, President Hakainde Hichilema has reassigned Energy Minister, Peter Kapala, to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Makozo Chikote has been transferred to the Ministry of Energy, effective immediately.
State House Chief Communication Specialist, Clayson Hamasaka, confirmed the changes in a statement issued on Friday in Lusaka.
“The President implored and directs the Ministers to discharge their functions with due diligence in their new portfolios,” Hamasaka said.
The reshuffle spared Kapala and Chikote, unlike their colleague, Collins Nzovu, who was moved from the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment to the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation.

Mike Mposha was transferred to the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment in Nzovu’s place.
Under Hichilema’s administration, Chushi Kasanda has been the only minister dismissed, having been replaced by Cornelius Mweetwa as Information and Media Minister.
President Hichilema’s reshuffle comes in response to public dissatisfaction with service delivery in several ministries.
