Forgotten Chipolopolo Zambia striker Lazarus Kambole is hoping to make a dream return to ZESCO United this Saturday when they visit Lumwana Radiants.
The 29-year-old has returned to ZESCO for the first time since 2019 when he left the nine-time Zambian champions to join South African club Kaizer Chiefs on a three-year deal.
This is according to Kalumiana Kalumiana in the Kafue publication made available to the Sports Monitor on Saturday.
Kambole’s Chiefs stay wasn’t a success and he later moved to Tanzanian champions Young Africans in 2022 but still struggled to spark.
Furthermore, the four years also saw Kambole lose his Chipolopolo spot and he traces his last call-up to 2018.
Kambole has now returned to familiar surroundings at ZESCO on a six-month deal hoping to reboot his career at the club he helped win back-to-back league titles in the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
“So far so good and I have adapted well,” Kambole said.
“I am going to work hard and bring in my experience and hoping for the best.”

But Kambole walks into a ZESCO side that is hovering in an unfamiliar 10th position on 26 points, twelve points behind leaders Power Dynamos with fourteen games left to play.
ZESCO finished second last season after losing their league title to Red Arrows.
They visit Lumwana who are six places below them and inside the bottom four relegation zone but the hosts have lost just two out of their nine home games this season.
“In football, they are no easy games. We are coming from a draw and playing away in Lumwana on a difficult pitch and against a very stubborn team,” Kambole said.
“But we are ZESCO United and we have the quality to get the three points and I am just looking forward to the game tomorrow,” he said-The Kafue .
