Kalale leaps to new long jump record of 7.66 metres, qualifies for African under 20 championships

National record holder eighteen year old long jumper Bernard Kalale has broken his own national record, according to the Zambia Athletics (ZA).

This is after he jumped a new personal best distance of 7.66 metres from his previous 7.61m at the ongoing all comers meet competition in Ndola at levy Mwanawasa stadium on Saturday.

This has seen the Africa Union Sports Council (AUSC) region five games champion qualify for the under 20 African Junior Championships.

Kalale the Samuel Matete academy athletics club is the two times AUSC champion, he won his first gold in 2021 in Lesotho and his second in 2022 in Lilongwe Malawi.

The new national long jump record is now 7.66m and Kalale’s new personal best.
