Imboela, NDC president, calls on PF lawmakers to instigate constitutional crisis if…

National Democratic Congress leader, Saboi Imboela, has urged the Patriotic Front (PF) party Members of Parliament to resign and cause a constitutional crisis if the United Party for National Development (UPND) continued to mess around with their party.

The ruling UPND dismissed claims by the PF that it was sponsoring Matero Member of Parliament, Miles Sampa, to cause confusion in the party.

Imboela told Zambia Monitor that it was unfortunate that the UPND government had continued with its tactics of meddling in other parties like it did with the Democratic Party (DP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and now the PF.

She said Zambians made a very big mistake by voting for the UPND government and that it was high time they were taught a lesson in order for them to learn from their mistakes.

“Do you know if all the Members of Parliament were to resign including the Independent MPs, this would cause a constitutional crisis and lead to a general election and this is one of the options the PF lawmakers have,” Imboela said.

She said the 60 PF Members of Parliament had a huge task of stopping the UPND from meddling in their party affairs, arguing that the ruling party would lose if a general was called today.

Imboela said the PF was too strong and big a party for the UPND to continue messing in its affairs and the MPs should consider this option in order to allow Zambians who are suffering to teach them a lesson.

“The PF right now does have the necessary numbers to cause a constitutional crisis and force Zambia to go for a general election, so I call upon the PF and thank God Edgar Lungu is back to look at this option, let them cause a general election,” she said.

Imboela said if Zambia was to go for a general election, the ruling UPND would lose because Zambians had now known them through the mismanagement of the economy and the alleged corruption happening in the background.

She said the UPND painted their colleagues black over corruption, the state of economy and won elections through propaganda, but that the situation had gotten worse under its rule.

“In the past when a ruling party tried to mess around with another party, they would do it in the background not what we are seeing under the UPND right now where by they are in the forefront, the Police are at the PF Secretariat and party officials are busy making statements that no the PF is with this one and not that one,” Imboela said.

She wondered what the Police were doing at the PF Secretariat despite knowing that the Miles Sampa faction held an illegal convention and that there were pending court cases relating to what was happening in the party.
