Former First Lady, Esther Lungu, says she is not shaken or worried with the current investigations against her and other family members.

Lungu expressed discontent over the ongoing investigations, saying she never stole anything whilst her husband was in power.

She said this after appearing before the Economic and Financial Crimes Court in Lusaka on Tuesday.

“God is big, and he is the one we are leaning on! I will not be shaken! We never stole anything, and God knows,” Lungu stated.

She vowed that she was not going to dance to man’s tune, but that God knows as there was always light at the end of the tunnel.

“They are not taking away our lives. How many First Ladies have gone through what I am going through? Anyway, God knows” Lungu lamented.

Whilst appearing before the court, Lungu addressed various women’s groups at the Ministry of Home Affairs following the adjournment of the case.

In this case, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) seeks to forfeit her 15 double-storey flats to the state, alleging that they were proceeds of crime.
