ILO unveils global accelerator initiative to boost jobs, support vulnerable communities

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Zambian government to enhance the welfare of vulnerable populations.

ILO Project Manager Jean-Luis Lambeau, announced the introduction of a global accelerator initiative aimed at stimulating economic growth and job creation, particularly for marginalized communities.

Speaking during a consultative meeting on Saturday in Lusaka with the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Director for Social Welfare, Nelson Nyangu, Lambeau explained that the initiative would identify key sectors with growth potential to drive economic development.

In response, Nyangu welcomed the plan, emphasizing that the Ministry remained committed to supporting social protection programs that promote economic sustainability for the poor and vulnerable.

He assured that the government, through the Ministry, was ready to collaborate with ILO in fostering a conducive environment for job creation and economic expansion.
