Renowned musician and producer, Mark Mulaza Kaira, popularly known as Macky 2, has announced his intention to contest the Nchanga Constituency parliamentary seat in the 2026 General Elections, calling on Zambia’s youths to step up and take leadership roles.
In a video shared on his official Facebook page, Kaira challenged young people to prove their capability in shaping Zambia’s development.
“I am planning to run for Parliament in 2026, Nchanga Constituency. Join me, join the movement, let’s change our country for the better,” Macky 2 declared.
He emphasized that youths must challenge perceptions that they are incapable of leadership.

“I think right now is the right time for you and me to stand up and show the world what we could be if we decide to contribute positively to our country. I am calling on all young leaders to step up and join the movement,” he urged.
The award-winning rapper, known for his deep roots in Chingola, also highlighted his work through the Macky 2 Hope Foundation, which supports orphans and vulnerable children.
Macky 2 further dismissed stereotypes associated with his music career and the “Kopala lingo” that has defined his artistry.
“I am more than what you see when you watch my content on social media. We are more than the music we listen to, more than the way we talk, dress, or walk. It’s time we change how people perceive us,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa has pledged K100,000 to support Macky 2’s campaign.
“Well done, Sonny Macky 2, for not being a chamwenso and for throwing your hat into the ring early. BaYufi should emulate you, our ‘Bobi Wine.’ Regardless of the party you stand with, I pledge K100,000 for your campaign in 2026, “Sampa announced.
Macky 2’s decision marks a growing trend of Zambian artistes venturing into politics, drawing comparisons to figures like Bobi Wine in Uganda.
