Hunt for Lungu’s children, a cowardly act; Kalaba asks Hichilema to work for removal of immunity on presidents

Citizens First president, Harry Kalaba, has called for constitutional reform on clauses that allow the Head of State to retire with immunities attached to the office.

Kalaba, has, therefore, challenged President Hakainde Hichilema to initiate constitutional reforms to allow the immunity of the president to collapse immediately after retirement.

He said as a party, they would revisit the clause that allows the President to retire with immunity so that if there were any cases against the President they could be prosecuted in no time.

“The President must only have immunity only when his serving as President, am challenging Mr Hichilema to begin working on this so that even him as he retires his immunity should collapse,” he said in an interview in Friday.

Kalaba also said Hichilema should go to parliament and move a motion to lift former President Edgar Lungu’s immunity so that the “drama” of harassing his family could stop.

He said Zambians were tired of the witch-hunt of the former first family as a way of getting to him.

Kalaba said the UPND should not be cowards by targeting the children of the ex-President to indirectly get at him.

He urged them go to parliament and lift Lungu’s immunity so that the issue of targeting and harassing his family would come to an end.
