Incarcerated former Lusaka Province Minister, Bowman Lusambo, has been ordered by the Lusaka High Court to refund K375,000 to Isoka Member of Parliament Marjorie Nakaponda, following a failed property transaction.
The judgment, issued by Judge Gaudentia Salasini, was made in default of appearance and defense after Lusambo failed to respond within the stipulated legal timeframe.
The court directed Lusambo to repay the K375,000 in line with a debt acknowledgment and settlement agreement signed between the two parties.
He must also pay damages for breach of contract—subject to assessment by the registrar—to cover Nakaponda’s legal costs, and provide any additional relief deemed appropriate by the court.
The dispute stemmed from a failed sale of Lusambo’s Silverest property in Chongwe. Court records show that the agreement was signed on April 28, 2024, with a set purchase price of K600,000.
Nakaponda paid K375,000 as part of the agreement, but Lusambo allegedly ceased communication and failed to complete the transaction.

After repeated attempts to contact Lusambo, Nakaponda issued a demand letter on October 14, 2024, seeking a refund.
Despite follow-ups, the money was not returned.
Nakaponda told the court that the failed transaction caused her financial loss and emotional distress.
Lusambo is currently serving a four-year sentence imposed last year by the Economic and Financial Crimes Court for possession of properties suspected to be proceeds of crime.
