President Hakainde Hichilema has called on diplomats in Zambia to actively market the country and attract investments in key sectors, including agriculture, mining, and energy.
Speaking at the Annual Meet and Greet of the Diplomatic Corps on Thursday at Mulungushi International Conference Centre, President Hichilema commended the diplomats for their contributions to Zambia’s debt restructuring efforts and responses to the drought crisis.
“Zambia’s progress in rebuilding and addressing its challenges is noteworthy, especially given the country’s resilience in the face of adversity,” the President said.
He emphasized regional cooperation and trade as critical to fostering economic growth and highlighted Zambia’s potential to serve as the region’s food basket due to its strategic location.
President Hichilema also reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to peace and stability on the continent, noting that conflicts disrupt economic activities and displace populations.
He underscored the government’s strides in restoring the rule of law, combating corruption, and recovering assets, stating these efforts were not anti-human rights or politically targeted.
“The government has made significant strides in various areas, including economic development, governance, and international cooperation,” he added.

“This event allows us to express our profound gratitude for the support and cooperation your respective countries have continued to render to Zambia,” Haimbe said.
He stressed that these partnerships were crucial in addressing shared challenges, promoting economic growth, and improving the well-being of citizens.
The meeting provided an opportunity for Zambia and its diplomatic partners to reaffirm their commitment to building a brighter and more prosperous future.
