President Hakainde Hichilema has announced plans for the Zambian government to collaborate with Japanese firm, Horiba Technologies Group, to enhance healthcare services in the country.

Horiba Technologies Group is said to provide advanced solutions for environmental sustainability and health diagnostics.

In a Facebook post, President Hichilema said he discussed the partnership during a visit to two pioneering companies in Kyoto, Japan—Horiba Technologies Group and Sustaina Kyoto South Clean Centre—on Wednesday.

The Head of State highlighted the potential benefits of collaborating with Horiba to improve Zambia’s healthcare system.

“At Sustaina Kyoto South Clean Centre, we examined cutting-edge waste management technology that converts waste into energy,” he said.

He also directed the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to adopt and implement similar initiatives in collaboration with local authorities.

“This strategic move aligns with Zambia’s vision for sustainable waste management, energy generation, and economic growth, reinforcing its goal of achieving middle-income status by 2030,” he said.
