Hichilema pledges to uphold Zambia’s unity at Chuundu Lwiindi Ceremony in Kazungula

President Hakainde Hichilema officiated the Chuundu Lwiindi Traditional Ceremony in Kazungula District on Sunday, pledging to uphold peace and unity across Zambia.

Addressing the gathering on Sunday in Kazungula, President Hichilema emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting traditional ceremonies as key to preserving cultural heritage, fostering national cohesion, and boosting tourism.

“The government remains committed to supporting traditional ceremonies across the country, as these events play a vital role in preserving and transmitting our cultural values, fostering peace and unity, and boosting tourism,” he said.

The President also highlighted the importance of traditional ceremonies as platforms for engagement with rural communities, allowing the government to understand and address their developmental needs.

He commended traditional leaders for their unity and collaboration, which he said was evident in their attendance at events he has officiated nationwide.

President Hichilema extended heartfelt gratitude to Chief Sekute of the Leya-speaking people for hosting him and noted that the Chuundu Lwiindi Ceremony marked the conclusion of Southern Province’s 2024 traditional ceremonies.

Notable attendees included Information and Media Minister Cornelius Mweetwa and Tourism Minister Rodney Sikumba, among others.
