President Hakainde Hichilema has appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mulambo Haimbe, to represent him at the 27th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Apia, Samoa, from 21st to 26th October 2024.
The Summit, themed “One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth,” will bring together global leaders to address pressing issues like climate change, human rights, and economic recovery.
This is according to a statement issued in Lusaka by the Ministry of Foriegn Affairs and International Cooperation on Saturday.
The statement indicated that key outcomes included the adoption of a Communiqué and various forum statements.

The election of the next Commonwealth Secretary-General will be a major agenda item, while Zambia’s delegation will participate in fora on business, gender, youth, and civil society.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to strengthening trade, democracy, and climate resilience while advocating for youth empowerment, gender equality, and the fight against child marriage.
