Manchester City climbed to the top of the Premier League table with a commanding 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, thanks to a hat-trick from Erling Haaland.

Ipswich Town surprised the home crowd early with a goal from Sam Szmodics in the seventh minute, but Haaland quickly equalized from the penalty spot just five minutes later.

Kevin De Bruyne then capitalised on an error by Arijanet Muric, putting City ahead 3-1 by the 16th minute.

Haaland completed his hat-trick in the 88th minute with a powerful low drive, sealing the victory for Manchester City.

Despite near misses from Rico Lewis and De Bruyne, and Haaland missing a chance for an earlier hat-trick, City’s relentless attack proved too much for Ipswich.

In another Premier League match at the AMEX Stadium, Joao Pedro scored a stoppage-time winner to secure a 2-1 victory for Brighton & Hove Albion over Manchester United.

Danny Welbeck’s first-half goal put Brighton ahead, but Amad equalized for United after the break.

However, Pedro’s late header ensured Brighton’s strong start to the season continued, leaving United aiming to bounce back against Liverpool on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Yves Bissouma scored on his return, and Son Heung-min added two goals as Tottenham Hotspur crushed Everton 4-0 for their first win of the season.

Spurs, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester City in their opener, were dominant against an Everton side that has now lost both of its opening matches.

Finally, Arsenal secured a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park, maintaining their perfect start to the season.

Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey scored second-half goals, propelling the Gunners to join Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion at the top of the table with six points from their first two games.
