Erling Haaland became the fastest player to reach 100 Premier League goal contributions, but Manchester City were held to a 2-2 draw by top-four rivals Brighton at the Etihad.
With European places fiercely contested by multiple teams this season, neither City nor Brighton could seize control of the race despite Haaland’s record-breaking performance.
“Not bad, right? Hopefully, we can continue to play better and help him score more,” said Pep Guardiola of Haaland’s latest milestone.
In a match reported by Sky Sports, Omar Marmoush won an early penalty, drawing a reckless challenge from Adam Webster, which Haaland converted to open the scoring.
Brighton responded swiftly through Pervis Estupiñán’s pinpoint free-kick before Marmoush fired City back in front with a stunning strike.
The visitors refused to back down, and Abdukodir Khusanov’s own goal early in the second half brought Brighton level again.
Both sides created late chances, but Yankuba Minteh missed a back-post sitter, Carlos Baleba blazed over from 10 yards, and Nico González rattled the post for City.
With the Champions League race wide open, Guardiola’s side remain provisionally fifth, while resurgent Brighton sit just one point behind in seventh after extending their unbeaten run to five games.
