He said the government should make it mandatory that any cooperative seeking empowerment loans or grants should incorporate the differently abled people so that they also participate fully in the economic discourse of the country.

Mumba said the association had taken upon itself to register cooperatives on behalf of the people with unique abilities.

“So far we have registered some cooperatives and we are helping them fill in the forms so that they also access grants and loans to boost their economic ventures,” he said.

Mumba said more efforts should be made to encourage more differently able people to get involved in business ventures to reduce street begging and destitution.
