Government will improve complementary domestic airports to deal with the current limited air connectivity infrastructure.
Improving infrastructure in aviation, precisely will not only improve the tourism outlook but ensure that Zambia adequately support commerce.
This is according to Transport and and Logistics Minister Frank Tayali.
Tayali stated that government was aware of the limited air connectivity infrastructure in Zambia.
He said government had therefore a deliberate focus to improve and upgrade complementary domestic airports to the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) that included the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport, Mongu, Kasama and Solwezi provincial Airports, among others.
Tayali said this on Thursday in Lusaka at the official launch of the First National Bank (FNB) Zambia Private and Premier Clients VIP Airport Lounge at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
“This will not only improve the tourism outlook of our country, but ensure that we adequately support commerce and exploit trade opportunities, indispensable to the growth of our economy,” he said.
Speaking earlier, FNB Zambia Chief Executive Officer, Bydon Longwe said Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) were currently accessing finance without providing collateral through unsecured loans.
Longwe said his bank was offering collateral-free lending for repayment tenors of up to 36 months for customers who had banked with the institution for a minimum of six months and maintain a good track record.
