Energy Minister, Peter Kapala, says the launch of the 105-megawatt diesel power plant by Ndola Energy Company will relieve the country of the power deficits.
Ndola residents on Thursday witnessed the restart of the power generation that would be diesel propelled.
Speaking during the launch in Ndola, Kapala said public private partnerships were critical in navigating through the power challenges facing the country.
“The 105 MW that has been added to the grid will be a game changer and I am told that Ndola Energy is planning to add 200MW of solar to the grid in partnership with ZESCO Limited with a space of 10-11 months which is encouraging,” he said.
Others in attendance included Information and Media Minister, Cornelius Mweetwa, and Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo.

Mweetwa speaking earlier said government was elated that a milestone had been achieved in the energy sector.
“As the government, we are elated by the direction we are taking, the country is facing national crisis but with this direction we are turning a misfortune into an opportunity,” he said.
Mweetwa said investments in alternative sources of energy was needed at this critical time.
Matambo added that the coming of Ndola Energy power would create employment opportunities.
Ndola Energy Managing Director, Brian Mushimba, who is also Power Africa Energy Chief Executive Officer said negotiations with the ZESCO Limited with the view of installing 200 MW solar power was almost concluded in readiness to start the project.
