The government has urged eligible farmers under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) to promptly deposit their K400 contributions.

Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary for Technical Services, John Mulongoti, stated the importance of this step to ensure timely access to farming inputs before the 2024/2025 rainy season.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday, Mulongoti urged farmers who have not yet received their Authority to Deposit (ATD) to verify their National Registration Card (NRC) details, including phone numbers, with Ministry of Agriculture staff at the District Agricultural Coordinator (DACO) office.

“Eligible beneficiary farmers who have received their ATD via text message should deposit their K400 contributions as soon as possible,” Mulongoti said.

He stressed the need for all contributions to be deposited by October 31, 2024, to avoid delays in the programme’s implementation and to ensure timely access to farming inputs.

Mulongoti also instructed Provincial and District Agricultural Coordinators to actively engage with farmers to keep them informed about the programme’s processes and requirements.

He assured that the Ministry of Agriculture would continue to provide regular updates on the FISP.
