The Zambian government says it has has implemented measures to ensure all schools across the country have access to Information Communication Technology (ICT) services.
Education Minister, Douglas Syakalima, announced that his ministry was collaborating with the Ministry of Technology and Science to equip schools, including those in remote areas, with ICT facilities.
“We are working with the Ministry of Technology and Science to ensure that ICT services reach every school, even those in the remotest parts of the country,” Syakalima said during a briefing in Lusaka on Thursday.
The minister stated the importance of ICT in modern education, noting that it was now integral to every aspect of human activity.
Last year, President Hakainde Hichilema launched the Muchila Smart Village project in Namwala District, an initiative aimed at connecting learners and education centers remotely through an E-learning platform.
Syakalima assured the public that these efforts were designed to bridge the digital divide and ensure learners in remote areas are not left behind.
However, the minister cautioned students against misusing technology, urging them to focus on using it to enhance their education.
