The Civil Service Commission has begun the recruitment of 4,000 health workers selected from 46,000 applicants in 2023, with the process expected to conclude by the second week of December 2024.
The initial phase involved promoting 1,522 officers within the Ministry of Health to create openings and motivate the newly promoted staff.
Commission Chairperson, Choolwe Beyani, announced the progress during a media briefing at the commission headquarters in Lusaka.

“Having successfully completed the first phase, we have now started the recruitment of new entrants into public service,” Beyani stated.
He emphasised that the application documents were being inspected and validated, with the database securely maintained.
Beyani expressed sympathy for new graduates and those who were unable to apply in 2023, noting that they were excluded from this recruitment due to previously stated reasons.
By the end of this recruitment, the government would have hired a total of 7,000 health workers, including 3,000 hired last year from an applicant pool of 43,000.
