Govt claims K18 million allocated, significant progress made with project executions in Kanchibiya

The government has reportedly committed K17,976,277.94 to various community projects in Kanchibiya District, Muchinga Province, targeting key sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, energy, and communication.

Kanchibiya Town Council Public Relations Officer, Joan Zulu, said significant progress had been made, with several projects completed and others at various stages of implementation.

In a statement issued in Kanchibiya on Wednesday, Zulu outlined key projects across education, health, road infrastructure, communication, and equipment procurement.

In the education sector, she highlighted the completion of classroom blocks at Kabulamwiko, Mulonga, and Tundwa primary schools, while Chendapanshi Primary School is 80 percent complete and has been moved to the 2024 projects.

Additionally, 4,913 desks have been procured and distributed across all wards.

On healthcare, Zulu announced the completion of the maternity wing at Chikakala Rural Health Centre and a rural health post in Chilwisha village, enhancing healthcare access for residents.

In road infrastructure, she confirmed the full completion of the Washeni Bridge project, improving transportation and connectivity.

For communication and equipment, Zulu said the procurement of radio station equipment, community awareness radio programmes, a tipper truck, and fuel bowsers had been finalised to enhance service delivery.

She also noted that funds reallocated for secondary boarding and skills development bursaries had led to crucial improvements in education, health, and transport infrastructure.

These included the completion of a 1×3 classroom block at Kabinga Secondary School, the procurement of mortuary equipment for Kopa Mini Hospital, and water and sanitation improvements at Mpepo Primary School.

Zulu reaffirmed the council’s commitment to transparency and effective use of public resources to uplift the lives of Kanchibiya residents.
