The Ministry of Health has reportedly concluded the 2024 recruitment exercise, bringing 4,140 health workers into the public service.
Civil Service Commission Chairperson, Dr. Choolwe Beyani, announced the development in Lusaka on Friday, highlighting that 3,494 candidates were recruited through a competitive process managed by District Sub-Committees and Provincial Human Resource Management Committees.
An additional 646 professional cholera volunteers were recruited in line with the government’s commitment to integrating them into the public health workforce.
Beyani revealed that the names of the successful candidates would be published on January 27, 2025.
Appointment letters will be available for collection at respective Provincial Health Offices starting Wednesday, January 29.
“Successful candidates are required to present their National Registration Cards (NRCs) and original copies of professional qualifications for identification and verification,” Beyani said.
The newly recruited workers include registered nurses, midwives, clinical officers, environmental health technologists, and junior resident medical officers.
Beyani encouraged the recruits to embrace their roles with professionalism and a sense of responsibility to enhance Zambia’s health service delivery.
He also called on communities to support the new recruits in settling into their roles to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
For those who were not successful, Beyani advised perseverance, emphasizing government’s commitment to annual recruitment drives.
