FC MUZA have clinched a slot in the second round of the 2023 Total Energies CAF Confederations Cup.
This was after recording a 3-nil bashing over Cano Sport of Equatorial Guinea at National Heroes Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The match was a follow up to FC MUZA’s one-all draw in the first leg, at the Estadio de Malabo in Equatorial Guinea.
The Elegant Dynamites dominated and created so many chances in the process.
It was not long before Kondwani Mhang opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a headed goal from a corner.
In the second half, FC MUZA’s Andrew Phiri converted a penalty to double the lead after an opposition defender was judged to have handled the ball in the eighteen area.
In the 63rd minute, FC MUZA’s Bobo Angwenga made it 3-nil to secure outright victory and a clash against Diables Noirs of Congo in the next round of the competition.
The Mazabuka outfit won the match 4-1 on aggregate to progress to the second preliminary round.
The team capped off an impressive weekend for Zambia’s envoys in continental football with Power Dynamos defeating Namibia’s African Stars on Saturday, to book a match against CAF Champions League competitor, Tanzania’s Simba SC.
