Former Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister, Bob Sichinga, has said the policies that government had implemented have severely affected the economy.

Sichinga pointed out that Zambia’s economy would have thrived if government had placed their priorities well.

He was speaking when he appeared on Millennium TV programme dubbed “Millennium Tonight,” on Saturday evening.

“Many Zambians are now questioning whether the UPND was prepared to govern the country because the economic situation is worsening,” he said.

The former Minister wondered how government had allegedly continued exporting electricity while importing the same commodity to cushion power crisis being experienced in the country.

According to Sichinga, this showed that the government had no proper plans to govern the country.

“Zambians will continue facing hardship because their leaders have no clear roadmap to govern the country,” he said.

He highlighted that Zambia had minerals that it needed to take advantage of to generate revenue but that this was not happening.

Sichinga said the revenue generation in Zambia had continued dwindling and this is worrying.
