A Choma Subordinate Court has convicted and sentenced an Engineer at Ministry of Water Development and a Director of Kalomo Construction Company to 12 months imprisonment each with hard labour for corrupt practices.
In presiding over the matters, Choma Principal Resident Magistrate, Idah Mupemo, found that the prosecution had proved their cases beyond all reasonable doubt and convicted the accused persons as charged and sentenced each to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour.
In a statement issued In Lusaka on Monday by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Head – Corporate Communications Timothy Moono, he said sentence for each of the convicts would run concurrently starting from the date of conviction.

“Titus Mukwamba, 41, an Engineer at Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation of Plot No. 968 New Kabanana, Lusaka, has been convicted on five counts of Corrupt Practices by Public Officer contrary to Section 19 (1) of the Anti- Corruption Act No. 38 of 2010,” he stated.
Furthermore, Moono mentioned that Oliver Mulimo, 46, director of Kalomo Construction Company of House No.5 Njoko Road, Livingstone, was convicted on three counts of corrupt practices by a public officer contrary to Section 19 (2) of the Anti- Corruption Act No. 38 of 2010.
“The Anti-corruption Commission in October 2021, arrested and charged Titus Mukwamba and Oliver Mulimo for corrupt practices,” he said.
He explained that on dates unknown but between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2012 in Choma District, Mukwamba did corruptly obtain a total sum of K14,150.00 cash gratification from Oliver Mulimo as an inducement to facilitate the issuance of completion certificates in relation to the Konkola dam project, a matter or transaction concerning the Department of Water Affairs, a public body.
“In the three counts for Oliver Mulimo are that, on dates unknown but between 1st January, 2011 and 31st December, 2012 in Choma District, while serving as Director for Kolomo Construction Ltd, did corruptly give Titus Makwamba a total sum of K6,350.00 as an inducement to facilitate the issuance of completion certificates in relation to the Konkola dam project, a matter or transaction concerning the Department of Water Affairs, a public body,” Moono highlighted.
