The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has announced plans to expand voter registration efforts with the opening of 10 new registration centers in various districts.
Patricia Luhanga, the ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager, stated that this move was part of the commission’s ongoing efforts to accelerate and expand the continuous registration of voters across the country.
Luhanga said this in a statement issued in Lusakw on Monday.
With the addition of these 10 centers, the total number of continuous registration centers would increase to 30, ensuring better accessibility for citizens and bridging the gap that limits voter participation in some areas.
Luhanga highlighted that each province would now have a center, including districts like Mumbwa, Chingola, Petauke, Samfya, Kafue, Mpika, Mporokoso, Mwinulunga, Monze and Kaoma.
Furthermore, Luhanga mentioned that stakeholder engagement meetings would precede the launch of these centers on June 4, 2024, in all respective districts.
She stated the importance for eligible Zambian citizens, aged 18 and above, possessing a green National Registration Card, to utilise these centers for voter registration.
Luhanga urged all stakeholders to actively participate in raising awareness about this crucial exercise, ensuring maximum participation from eligible citizens across the country.
