Humphrey Kabwe, the Economic Front (EF) National Spokesperson and acting Presidential Spokesperson, has resigned from the party, citing dissatisfaction with its leadership and recent decisions.
Kabwe announced his departure due to a disagreement with the party’s recent decision to form an alliance with the ruling UPND, a move he opposed.
In his resignation letter dated September 4, 2024, Kabwe criticized the UPND for lacking integrity, stating that such an alliance did not align with what Zambians deserve.
“I am hereby referring to the above subject, I wish to formally tender my resignation letter as Economic Front National Spokesperson, acting Presidential Spokesperson and member of the Economic Front effective immediately,” Kabwe wrote.
He further stated that he could no longer support the party’s shift in stance towards the UPND’s capitalist policies, which he finds unacceptable.
“I can no longer continue to serve with my full consciousness this move our party has taken, hence my decision to resign,” Kabwe said.
In his resignation, Kabwe thanked Wynter Kabimba and the party for the opportunity to serve, acknowledging that the role helped him contribute to the party’s growth and his own political development.
