Driver charged in fatal accident that killed musician, Dandy Krazy, four others

The Zambia Police have arrested and charged Hachalwa Lweendo, the driver of the Shacman truck involved in the road accident that claimed the lives of renowned musician, Wesley Chibambo, popularly known as Dandy Krazy, and four others.

The tragic accident occurred on December 31, 2024, at Leaf Garden in Kabwe, approximately 25 kilometers from Kapiri Mposhi along the Great North Road.

Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, confirmed that Lweendo has been charged with five counts of causing death by dangerous driving and will appear in court soon.

Among the deceased are Wesley Chibambo, aged 47, of Lilayi in Lusaka, Moses Simpungwe, aged 54, of Luangwa Township in Kabwe, Christopher Muyembe, aged 30, of Lusaka West, Warren Lundulanga, aged 32, of Shantumbu in Lusaka, and Humphrey Makofi, aged 25, of Chalala in Lusaka.

Hamoonga confirmed in a statement in Lusaka on Friday that all five deceased individuals have been positively identified.

He extended the police’s condolences to the bereaved families and assured the public of the police’s commitment to ensuring justice prevails in the matter.

The Police Public Relations Officer also urged motorists to exercise caution, adhere to traffic regulations, and prioritize road safety to prevent further loss of life on Zambia’s roads.
