‘Don’t use promises to solve challenges,’ Musonda advises Hichilema to stay focused and think less of Lungu

James Musonda, a political analyst, has claimed  that former President Edgar Lungu’s political influence has waned and that he may not be in a position to unseat the United Party for National Development (UPND) in an election.

He also argued that arresting and detaining family members of the ex-leader was giving a bad name to the ruling party, urging President Hakainde Hichilema to focus his energies towards addressing the cost of living.

“The continued rebranding and mobilizing around former   President Lungu shows that there is no leader in the PF, this  is what we saw when President Michael Sata died, they (PF) almost put the country in a serious crisis,” Musonda said.

He added that it was disappointing that the UPND had continued harassing the former leader and his family, thereby attracting unnecessary attention to a politician who was out of power.

“UPND is giving false movements by attracting attention, those who support President Lungu are taking advantage of the situation,” Musonda said.

He noted that while the UPND seemed to be losing direction, the party was better at managing the country’s affairs compared with the PF.

Musonda further argued that if President Hichilema were to lose power, it would not be to ex-President Lungu.

“It is amazing that the UPND are using Lungu. President Hichilema should spend more efforts in addressing the cost of living. Late President Levy Mwanawasa faced the challenge and admitted but the UPND wants to use promises to solve challenges. This is the reason people are calling you names Bashi Promise “father to promises,” he said.
