Two dogs have attacked and bitten an 11-year-old boy of Lusaka’s Mtendere Township, leaving him hospitalised and in critical condition.
The boy sustained dog bite wounds all over his body after he was attacked and bitten by two dogs along Benjamin Mwila Road in PHI.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale, said the boy was only rescued by one of the community members who shot and injured one of the dogs.
Mwale said in a statement issued on Monday that the boy was rushed to Levy Mwanawasa Teaching Hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

The incident happened on February 11, 2023 around 15:00 hours in PHI area in Lusaka.
‘Police visited the scene and arrested the owner of the dogs identified as Mungo Chingaya aged 40 of Benjamin Mwila Road in PHI. He has been charged and arrested for the offence of Reckless and Negligent Acts,” Mwale said.
He said the owner of the dogs was detained in Police custody while the dogs were in confinement.
“We call on members of the public especially dog owners to always make sure that their dogs are well tamed other than leaving them loose putting the lives of other people in danger.
“We have been recording a lot of cases involving dog bite which have resulted in serious injuries and deaths,” Mwale stated.
