A joint Team from the Czech Republic and Zambia have set camp in Western Province to provide specialized health services to the local people.
The Medevac Team, a humanitarian outreach that assists countries with specialist services is focusing on orthopedic patients and are earmarked to conduct over 50 surgeries in 10 days ending May 12, 2023.
Health Minister, Sylvia Masebo, has described Czech Republic as an all-weather partner of Zambia in the health sector, whose contribution has helped women and children in the province.
She noted the establishment of a maternity annex and a separate operating theatre at Lewanika General Hospital and support in the commencement of the Midwifery programme at the School of Nursing
Meanwhile, Czech Republic Ambassador to Zambia, Pavel Procházka, has hailed the partnership between the two countries, adding that his team has been accorded great hospitality.

“Czech doctors and nurses, side-by-side with their Zambian colleagues, will be providing free medical care to persons whose condition prevents them from leading a dignified life” said Procházka
The main objective of their mission is to establish cooperation in the treatment of surgical and orthopedic patients and to ensure a transfer of the Czech know-how in traumatology.
The Czech Republic focuses its development and humanitarian programmes in Zambia in Western and Southern provinces.
