The Federation for Small Scale miners (FSSMAZ) has warned impostors masquerading as its representatives to stop with immediate effect.
FSSMAZ president, Joseph Mwansa, expressed concern that there were people masquerading as representatives of small-scale miners creating confusion between the federation and government.

Mwansa said in interview on Monday that it is regretted that there was currently a situation where unverified and damaging statements were being issued uncontrollably, thereby causing confusion.
Further, he said, statements that attacked government officials by way of accusing them being corrupt while calling for their dismissal are unacceptable.
“We have information that there are individuals frequenting government institutions and embassies as representatives of small-scale miners.
“To avoid and remove confusion in the sector on engaging government and other stakeholders, we came together as regional associations and formed one umbrella body. It is in this regard that I warn all those speaking on behalf of our members to stop with immediate effect,” Mwansa said.
He said as a Federation affiliate, members were keen to work and support the government of the day.
“Finally, we would like to distance all our executive members from any statement that are based on name calling, unsubstantiated allegations and defamatory in nature,” Mwansa said.
