The Economic and Financial Crimes Court has scheduled November 8, 2024, for the delivery of its judgment in the corruption case involving former Lusaka Province Minister, Bowman Lusambo and his wife, Nancy Manase.

This decision comes after the defense concluded their case, following the failure of their witnesses to appear in court.

Bowman Lusambo and Nancy Manase face multiple charges, including concealing property suspected of being proceeds from crime, tax evasion and conspiracy to defraud.

Both defendants have pleaded not guilty.

Lusambo, who served as the PF Kabushi Member of Parliament, testified that he had acquired substantial wealth before entering politics.

He detailed his pre-political assets, including several high-end vehicles and a three-bedroom house in Chamba Valley, Lusaka.

Lusambo stated during his testimony that between 2014 and 2015, he owned three Mercedes-Benz cars, a Toyota Prado, and a Camry, as well as purchasing a house in Chamba Valley in 2015.

He emphasized that he led a comfortable life before his political career and had the means to buy property without difficulty.

The prosecution accused Lusambo and Manase of acquiring various properties, including a single-storey, four-bedroom house and an incomplete block of six flats in Chamba Valley, Lusaka, between May 1, 2015, and December 31, 2021, through illegal means.

These properties are alleged to have been concealed as proceeds of crime and are linked to tax evasion.

Lusaka Magistrate Faides Hamaundu would deliver the judgment on November 8, concluding a case that has garnered significant public and media attention.
