Fugitive former political advisor, Kaizer Zulu, is an active participant in a WhatsApp group, his surety Munir Zulu told the Lusaka Magistrate Court on Friday.

Since June, the whereabouts of Kazier, a political advisor to former President Edgar Lungu, have been unknown, which led the Magistrate Court to issue a warrant of arrest for non-appearance in court.

On Friday, Kazier again failed to appear before Magistrate Silvia Munyinya in a matter in which he is charged with two counts of failing to appear before the nearest immigration officer and failing to surrender a diplomatic passport.

During hearing of return of bench warrant, Lumezi Member of Parliament, Munir told Magistrate Munyinya that he had reported to the police the person aiding and harbouring Kaizer.

“We reported the person that we strongly suspect of aiding and harbouring the accused person at Woodlands police station.

“The accused is active in one WhatsApp group. Our prayer first is that an open bench warrant be issued to the accused and asking for more time your honour. When I went to woodlands police station to report the person aiding him, they said it was difficulty to expand the bench warrant as it is restricted,” he told the court.

Meanwhile, Kazier’s other surety, Chilubi PF Member of Parliament, Mulenga Fube, pleaded for more time saying they were hopeful they would arrest him before the resources being spent on the search depleted.

Prosecuting officer, Friday Malimakau, informed the court that the search for the accused was still on-going and could not reveal some of the mechanism being implored to find him.

Malimakau also pleaded for the Court to give the investigations team more time to arrest Kazier.

Magistrate Munyinya extended the bench warrant which was returnable on August 30,2023.

““So, this warrant is not limited in anyways. So, surety this warrant is not limited, it is open to all officers in Zambia. So, I will give you more time to find the accused and the warrant is expended,” she said.
