Elisha Matambo, the Copperbelt Minister, says employers should stop the trend of engaging casual labour at the expense of providing decent jobs.
Matambo said in Kitwe on Monday while officiating at the Kitwe International Labour Day celebrations that labour laws must be adhered to to avoid heavy sanctions.
“Government will not tolerate employers who are abrogating the labour laws with impunity,” he said.
Others in attendance included Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) vice president, Joseph Chewe, Kitwe Mayor and chairperson for the labour day organising committee, Fewdays Bwalya.

Chewe who is Mineworkers Union of Zambia (MUZ) President said the government should lead the way in creating decent jobs.
And Bwalya said staff motivation was critical in building a motivated workforce.
More than 380 employees from different companies received award for their dedication to work.
