The Copper Queens have achieved their highest-ever FIFA ranking in the latest Coca-Cola FIFA rankings, moving up to 64th place globally.
This elevation, one position higher than their previous 65th spot, marks a significant milestone for Zambia in women’s football.
On the African continent, the Copper Queens are ranked fourth, trailing behind Nigeria (36), South Africa (51), and Morocco (59).
The Zambian national women’s football team, nicknamed the Copper Queens, will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympics in July.
Their consistent qualification for every major tournament over the past six years underscores their growing reputation.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who recently visited the country, commended Zambia for their advancements in women’s football.
Notably, Zambia boasts two of the world’s most expensive players in women’s football: Racheal Kundananji and Barbra Banda.
Kundananji plays for Bay FC in the United States, while Banda represented Orlando Pride.
