Speaking in a video that is making rounds on social media, she claimed being a content creator and that she was currently promoting an upcoming movie which she stars in.
She has since apologized to the public for misleading them.
“I’m sure all of you relate me to That Zed Podcast, that I had last time, the interview. Whatever I said on that podcast concerning my prison journey and everything that happened, it was all a stunt for numbers. I’m a content creator, moreover I’ve been working on a movie ‘My Walk to Freedom’.
“Whatever I said there, I just wanted to pull the numbers for my upcoming movie. Just after this, I’m going to send the trailer for the movie that we are doing as the 99 family for you to know why I wanted the numbers and the audience. I’m so sorry for all the commotion, all the mixed feelings that people got from that interview. It’s not what it is, I only did it for numbers. Please forgive me,” Hamululi said.
The ex-Mukobeko Correctional facility inmate also claimed on the same podcast, that the UPND administration recommended for her release from the correctional facility on August 9, 2021.
But in a media statement, Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister, Jack Mwimbu, refuted the allegations saying the current administration was not even in office yet when the release happened.
The Minister, however, clarified that Ms. Hamululi who was earlier incarcerated for three years in February 2020 met all the Amnesty Conditions that warranted her release from Prison on August 09, 2021.
The Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security wishes to inform the General Public and Citizenry that according to the records held by the Zambia Correctional Service (ZCS), KBF/31/21 Precious Himululi alias Precious Namweemba Magande was admitted to Lusaka Central Female Correctional Centre on March 19, 2020, aged 28 years for the offence of Theft, Contrary Section 272 of the Penal Code and was convicted and sentenced to three years Simple Imprisonment with effect from 11th February,2020 and later transferred to Kabwe Female Maximum Prisons and Correctional Centre for security reasons.
On August 9, 2021, after serving two-thirds of her sentence, KBF/31/21 Precious Himululi alias Precious Namweemba Magande was recommended for Amnesty by the Officer in Charge at Kabwe Female Prisons and Correctional Centre after meeting the requirements as any other inmate as provided for, by Article 97 of the Constitution,” he said.
Social media users have expressed shock that someone could go that far just for popularity.
One user questioned the motive behind the move.
“Now why misleading us who are following you for numbers mom. You’re not being truthful and reliable,” a post read on the comments section of the video.
Others were, however, not convinced with her claim that she lied.
“You said the truth on the podcast. You are lying with what you are saying now. The problem you have is that you only realised after reviewing the podcast that perhaps you said a lot more than you needed to have said. The problem with the truth is that it cannot be buried as easily as you are putting it now,” said another netizen.
In just two days, the video on her page has attracted 760 comments and 121 shares at the time this article was published.
