Patriotic Front (PF) Legal Chairperson, George Chisanga, has claimed that the decision by Deputy Speaker Moses Moyo is a ‘constitutional fallacy’ lacking legal merit.

Chisanga claimed that the country was on the brink of a constitutional crisis, accusing the three arms of government of breaching the constitution.

“We now stand at the brink of a constitutional crisis in this country. This is a sad day for Zambia,” lamented Chisanga during a briefing on Thursday in Lusaka.

He alleged that the presiding officer in Parliament was used by President Hakainde Hichilema to tamper with the constitution.

“Yesterday, I didn’t sleep. People in my constituency (Lukashya) are sleeping without basic necessities, while the government is playing with governance issues, spending not less than US$2 million on the constitution. This is a very sad situation,” Chisanga said.

He urged Zambians from all walks of life to join hands in stopping the alleged dictatorship brewing in the country.

Mutotwe Kafwaya, the Lunte lawmaker, insisted that the Head of State was behind the expulsion of MPs from Parliament.

“This is the President’s project to introduce dictatorship in Zambia. He believes in the blame game. It is he who exported maize. President Hichilema should find a way of loving democracy, which ushered him into Parliament,” Kafwaya said.

Chilubi MP Bwalya Fube also pointed fingers at the Head of State for the developments within the PF.
