Chipolopolo Legends and Africa Legends will square off in an exhibition match slated for National Heroes Stadium on November 4, 2023.

The match which is being organised by King of Africa Sports would see former Zambian players wrestle for pride in a match against an all star select side of former players from around the continent.

Speaking at a media briefing at Heroes National Stadium in Lusaka on Thursday Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, Elvis Nkandu, described the forthcoming match as a great stride in promoting the sport in the country.

Nkandu said the match presented a good opportunity to exhibit unity.

The Minister said lessons were learnt from the Zambia versus Barcelona match, and expressed optimism that the matters would be handled better for the forthcoming fixture.

“People need to understand that when you are introducing something for the first time, there are always teething issues and what is important is the capacity and the ability so sort out such challenges,” he said.

King of Africa Sports Spokesperson, Lecille Wadee, said her firm is hopeful about replicating the success of the previous match played in Zambia in May.

Wadee called on partners to come on board in order to make the occasion a success.

Former Ghanian striker, Asamoah Gyan, said he would be hoping to avenge the 2012 defeat his team suffered at the hands of Zambia at the Africa Cup in Gabon.

Gyan expressed delight at being among players who would be involved in the upcoming match.

“Football is the most powerful event right now and I’m happy to be part of this journey and I’m happy to be a football legend. In the past people thought footballers were illiterate. Honestly, I’m very happy,” he said.

King of Africa Sports organised the Zambia versus Barcelona Legends match that saw Brazil legend Barcelona feature.

In the November 4 match, African legends like Emmanuel Adebayor and Jay Jay Okocha are expected to make an appearance.
