Anshan Zizhu International Trading Company, a China-based firm, plans to visit Zambia to assess the market for establishing a steel factory, authorities have announced.
Zambia’s Ambassador to China, Ivan Zyuulu, said the company also intends to set up an agricultural machinery manufacturing plant to produce customized iron, steel, and farming equipment for the Zambian market.
Zyuulu disclosed this after visiting Anshan City to observe Anshan Zizhu’s production processes and exchange insights with the company.
During his visit, he met with Hong Hai, Chairman of Anshan Zizhu Group, according to a statement issued by the Zambian Embassy in China on Saturday.
Anshan Zizhu specializes in steel smelting, rolling production, deep processing of steel materials, international import and export trade, and manufacturing agricultural equipment.
Zyuulu emphasized that the company’s visit to Zambia is crucial in ensuring its products align with the country’s agricultural needs, as outlined in the national development plan.
“Agriculture remains central to Zambia’s economic growth, given its potential to create jobs, reduce poverty, enhance food security, and generate revenue,” he said.

He added that the government was prioritizing agricultural mechanization and has developed the National Agriculture Mechanisation Strategy 2024-2028 to guide investments in modernizing the sector, improving productivity, and reducing post-harvest losses.
“The visit by Anshan Zizhu International Trading Company in the next two months will help customize steel and agricultural equipment products to suit the Zambian market,” Zyuulu noted.
He also encouraged the company to form joint ventures with local enterprises to enhance local participation in the industry.
“Joint ventures would create a sense of ownership among Zambians. China, and in particular Anshan Zizhu, values community-driven development and invests in ‘small but beautiful’ projects that respond to people’s needs,” he said.
