Chiluba, CAMNET TV founder, dies at 56

CAMNET Television and Healing Word Ministries founder, Pastor Moses Chiluba, has passed away.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday, the Media Owners Association of Zambia (MOAZ) President, Costa Mwansa, confirmed the news.

Mwansa described Pastor Chiluba as more than a member of the association, calling him a guiding light, a source of comfort, and a pillar of strength for the fraternity.

He noted that Pastor Chiluba’s selfless love, compassion, and wisdom inspired countless individuals, and his legacy would continue to uplift and inspire future generations.

“MOAZ is deeply saddened to lose one of its cherished members, a spiritual counselor, and a friend. We mourn the loss of a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many through his ministry and media endeavors,” Mwansa said.

He called on all members, friends, and the nation to join in prayer for comfort and strength for Pastor Chiluba’s family.

Chief Government Spokesperson, Corneliu Mweetwa, highlighted Chiluba’s significant contribution to Zambia’s media industry, noting his advocacy for professionalism in journalism anchored in truth, honesty, and impartiality.

“The loss of such an influential figure leaves a deep void, not only in the religious and media circles but also in the hearts of those he helped and inspired throughout his life,” Mweetwa said.

Former President Edgar Lungu also mourned the passing of Pastor Chiluba, offering his condolences to the family of Pastor Victoria Chiluba.

Lungu reflected on Chiluba’s dedication to both his ministry and the growth of CAMNET Television, writing on Facebook:

“Pastor Moses Chiluba breathed life into the Healing Ministries Church which he founded and ran diligently alongside his television station, CAMNET. The country has been robbed of a great man and close friend.”

Lungu urged the nation to offer thoughts and prayers to Pastor Victoria Chiluba and the CAMNET TV family during this difficult time.

Meanwhile, the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) Chairperson Sakwiba Sikota praised Pastor Chiluba for his contributions beyond ministry.

Sikota noted Chiluba’s role in founding Camnet Television, which has been instrumental in Zambia’s national development.

“Pastor Chiluba’s unwavering commitment to spreading the Word of God and his voice on national matters will be remembered forever,” Sikota said.

President Hakainde Hichilema has expressed deep sorrow at the passing of Pastor Chiluba, founder of CAMNET Television and Healing Word Ministries.

In a statement released on Wednesday on his official Facebook page, President Hichilema extended heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Chiluba, their family, relatives, friends, and the entire Christian community in Zambia.

He described Pastor Chiluba as a pillar of strength and an influential figure who impacted countless lives through his ministry and media work.

“We are deeply saddened by the news of Pastor Moses Chiluba’s passing, and extend our heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Chiluba, the family, relatives, friends, and the Body of Christ in Zambia. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” President Hichilema said.
